About Me
PhD Researcher · ML Engineer · Founder
PhD Researcher · ML Engineer · Founder
Machine Learning Engineer and PhD candidate at Maynooth University, specialising in real-time ML systems, ensemble prediction, and low-latency algorithm design. Founder & Director of Intonation Labs (Singapore), building production AI systems and SaaS products.
I build production AI systems that work under real-world constraints — latency budgets, cost limits, and reliability requirements. My PhD research at Maynooth University focuses on real-time audio processing and adaptive tuning algorithms, combining self-supervised ML, ensemble prediction, and low-latency signal processing.
In February 2026, I founded Intonation Labs Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, operating a dual-engine model: B2B ML consulting for startups and SMEs, and development of SaaS products including IntonationAI (AI music coaching), IntoMeeting (real-time AI meeting co-pilot), and IntoMarketing (AI marketing automation).
My path from a B.A. in Psychology at UC Davis to a Computer Science PhD gives me a strong appreciation for human-centred design in technical systems. I am bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, and have lived and worked across three continents.

My Journey
2023 – 2026
PhD in Computer Science — Maynooth University
Researching real-time web-based Just Intonation tuning algorithms. Built and deployed Instant Harmonies, a production-grade ML system for real-time music analysis. Published two papers in the Ubimus Journal. Supervised by Prof. Joseph Timoney.
2025 – Present
Founded Intonation Labs Pte. Ltd.
Registered in Singapore. Dual-engine business model: specialist ML consulting for startups and SMEs, and development of HarmoniAI, an AI-powered music coaching platform.
2025 – Present
Technology Engineer — Ubimus Conference
Supporting technical infrastructure for the Ubiquitous Music research community.
2022 – 2023
Firmware Test Engineer — Xunison, Ireland
Tested and validated firmware for IoT home gateway devices. Gained production engineering experience in a fast-paced hardware/software environment.
2021 – 2022
Higher Diploma, Software Development — Maynooth University
First Class Honours. Coursework in data structures & algorithms, database systems, web development, and software engineering.
2015 – 2020
B.A. Psychology — University of California, Davis
Minor in Economics. Developed strong foundations in research methodology, statistical analysis, and experimental design.
Beyond Research
When I'm not building ML systems or writing research papers, I'm a badminton fan — you'll often find me in badminton clubs in both Dublin and Singapore. I'm passionate about music (which inspired both my PhD and my company), and I enjoy exploring how technology can make high-quality music education accessible to everyone.
Having lived in Singapore, the United States, and Ireland, I value the perspectives that come from working across different cultures and disciplines. My unusual path from psychology to computer science gives me a strong appreciation for human-centred design in technical systems.
